My daughter has wanted one of these for years. She finally saved enough and we ordered it from our "warehouse club" for $200. It came with a lot a flavoring syrups - so it was a great starter set.

Pros: easy to use, pretty good shaved ice - no big chunks like the cheaper models. As good as 90% of the sno-shack shaved ice stands you drive by. ALSO - uses ice cubes from your freezer rather than having to freeze your ice in a mold!

Cons: a bit messy, not quite as good as the huge industrial machines used in snowie shacks.

Overall, this was an expensive purchase, but I am glad she got this rather than the "disposable" models out there. She has used it every day for a week and is in LOVE with it.


I don't often review appliances, but we got this one as a gift, and I felt like I wanted other people to know a few things about this. As the other reviewers have said, it's built like a tank, and it'll take ice cubes right out of the fridge and turn them instantly into good shaved ice. So,... hooray for the basics.

Now, the problems:
* The snow flies everywhere. You can control it somewhat by jamming a plastic cup into the opening, but we've still had to put it in a place where we can easily mop up afterward.
* You'll also need to mop up about 20 minutes later. As the snow left inside melts, it drips down and puddles on the cup holder.
* Very weird -- this thing came with almost NO instructions
* It comes with four pre-mixed flavors and four syrups. But the pre-mixed bottles are totally unsuited for applying the flavoring onto the cone. And there are four nifty lids provided that would be perfect, except they don't fit any of the bottles! So just know you'll have to go to a crafts store and get your own squirt bottles to dispense the flavoring.

On the whole, I just feel like whoever is getting this together should've done a better job ironing out all these problems.


I really wanted this machine, watching the demo video and reading the product description, I was willing to pay for the price to give it a try. Ordered the machine from a wholesale club which offers it with added value package for the same price elsewhere. After a few days, the machine arrived very well packaged so must open it right away. Boy was I disappointed, the machine was scratched all over, deep scratches. Further inspection, led me inside the hopper to the paddle wheel which is the part that rotates the ice against the blade. This part was badly corroded which must have been from water that was left in there for a long time. The part where the blade sits also was corroded. The unit looks like it has been used and then returned but was never cleaned. Somehow it ended up being repackaged again and shipped to me as a new machine.

Contacted the manufacturer and they requested me to send them photos of the machine, which i did. Talked to the company's sales and marketing director and he acknowledge that the machine looked horrible. He promised to send me a replacement unit and so I waited. The machine ships from Utah which should only take 2 days to reach me in Arizona. Well after more than a week, 2 more phone calls each promising to ship the replacement 'tomorrow' and several emails unanswered, I receive an email saying that the machine will take yet another day to be shipped. It was then that I decided that I have had enough, I told them not to send the replacement at all. Back to the warehouse club the machine went.

For the record, the machine was made in China, not that I have a problem buying things made in China. It has a sticker at the back that mentions the name of the company that manufactured it ( an electrical company somewher in China) and the rating of the machine. The bottom part of the machine is stamped also with information, no mention of Chinese company though, and also the machine rating that is totally different from the info on the sticker. Well... the was what you're paying $300 for.

If you really want to buy this machine, makes sure that you get it from a store that has a good customer service and guarantees the products they sell. You will be really needing this since the manufacturer (or is it just the importer) won't give it to you.

BTW, my friend also got one for herself and the machine looks new. She went on to use it but it just whirled a short one, and then pop. Tripped the circuit of the outlet, and then died (the machine). We just returned it to the warehouse club, just wasn't worth the trouble anymore.


The little Snowie shave ice machine is great and easy to use, One of the best features is that it uses regular ice cubes and not a chunck of ice made in a mold, so you always have ice ready to go any time you want to use it. We have used ours almost everyday since we recieved it. The only problem I have with it, is if you don't hold the cup just right some ice blows out around the top of it and onto your hand but after a few times you learn how to minamize this.


Holy Cow! This is such an improvement over the department store snow cone machines! If you like snow cones - you will LOVE this thing!
